Having met as a committee on Thursday evening we wish to provide all members with an update on the current actions being taken by Northallerton ASC to ensure that we are ready for opening and also on our current operations keeping the club operating whilst we are away.
All information that the club has sent out is available on the clubs website https://main.nasc.co.uk/index.php/news/. None of the current guidance sent out has been
Swim England are set to release their re-opening guidance on Monday 15th June. There is an anticipated start date of 4th July 2020. We will review the comprehensive guidance as it becomes available and have a committee meeting shortly after to provide another update to you all. I hope the outcomes from this are positive and I look forward to sharing updates with you.
I know many members have come up with inventive ways to start swimming, however speaking to many of you missing the social aspects of what the club offers is somewhat massive. I am hoping to host a few get-togethers alongside other coaches and committee members using Zoom. Further details of this is to follow. I feel this will be a great opportunity to get communicating ahead of our potential reopening.
Some members have opted to start training open water on their own accord. This is great, however please can I make you all aware of the documentation that has been provided from the sectors governing bodies. Please ensure that you have read the guidance before partaking in any such ventures.
Membership System Change
For a number of years the club have been using a platform called Team Unify. As a committee we have reviewed the platforms functionality and cost viability. We have opted to migrate systems to a different package. Over the coming week you will receive directions on how to sign up to the package. Emails from this system will arrive from email@example.com I strongly recommend adding this to your safe senders list.
The system has the capabilities to process Direct Debits, online gala payments and annual renewal payments. We hope to launch these features over time once we have got to grips with the current COVID-19 situation. The system is used by a number of clubs in the North East and has plenty of new features in the pipeline.
As part of the migration away from TeamUnify we have had to launch our own website. This is now live and all records and information has been successfully migrated. The website will return to its ‘old’ ways of updating clubs records and personal bests in a seamless fashion.
TeamUnify will cease to exist at the end of May 2020.
It’s not all doom and gloom! Back before COVID-19 hit the country NASC has applied for a grant with Hambleton District Council for the purchase of modern starting blocks. We are pleased to announce that we have a full set of modern style blocks (with moveable back food rest) on order, pending our return to swimming courtesy of the council grant. The blocks will be installed at Bedale Leisure Centre to allow us to use them in skills workshops, training events and competitions.
We have received refunds for the RDASC April Fools meet into the NASC account. We are about to start contacting members to issue refunds for the meet. This process will be completed, we hope, primarily by BACS. As a club we have recently obtained internet banking, please bear with us throughout this change in regards to processing these refunds.
The governing body have opted to suspend all gala licensing. It is likely that our fixture calendar during the first few months of return will look different to what is advertised. As we get more information on this I will of course share this with you to start our planning for the 2020/21 season.
As ever if you do have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with me, I will do my best to answer where I can.
