COVID-19 JULY UPDATE – PART 3 ( DRYSIDE and KIT LISTS)

Dear All,

NASC are excited at the prospect of reopening the club to its members. You will have all seen, I am sure, the broadcasted date of Saturday 25th July.

As a club we are ready to return to the pool, we are however awaiting further details from the council regarding operational issues, pool timetabling and financial/hire arrangements. NASC would hope to have this information during the course of the next week to ensure we can communicate to you in a timely manner

The councils press release certainly suggests that things will be up and running by that date: https://www.hambleton.gov.uk/news/article/1339/leisure_centres_gear_up_to_reopen_on_july_25

Training Considerations
The Coaching team at NASC have been working hard to ensure that planning for returning to the pool is in place. Members should be reassured to hear that the return to pool plan is progressive; ensuring that drills and training fitness are built back up in a timely manner before completing any overly taxing work in training.

To assist the coaching team in the delivery of training please can you ensure that over this next two-week period you have checked all of your kit and ensured that you have what is required from the kit list, we will be unable to lend any equipment out.

Kit List

Please could all senior squad swimmers ensure that they have two tennis balls in their kit bags for all sessions

NASC are currently investigating purchasing items for new starters and squad movers in a bid to ensure that stock levels are not compromised. These will be available for members to purchase at close to cost value.

Members Meetings
These have become incredibly successful as a social based opportunity for members. We will continue to run these on Wednesday evenings until we reopen between 8 and 9pm.

NASC would encourage parents to keep an eye on emails on Wednesday mornings to disseminate the login information.

Development Squad Dryside Training
After a successful launch of the Senior Squad sessions I am pleased to announce that we will offer dayside training on Wednesdays from 6-7pm on the Allertonshire site west fields.
These sessions will continue to run until we have a firm timetable of the clubs operation when we return to the pool.

To ensure that we are COVID-19 secure please adhere to the following guidelines

  • 2m Social distancing must be observed by all participants and coaches
  • Upon entry you will be allocated to a group of no more than 5 athletes with a coach to supervise
  • You should bring your own drink bottle
  • The sessions will not involve equipment initially
  • You should come in suitable fitness attire (no flip flops/sliders
  • If you wish to use a mat for exercises please bring your own (we are on grass so shouldn’t be much need)
  • There are no toilet facilities as the centre and school are closed
  • Parents should not enter the training area and should not be ‘spectating’ from the boundary where possible. This helps us mitigate further covid-19 supervision
  • If you have any COVID-19 related symptoms, or a member of your household demonstrates them, or track and trace have asked you to isolate. You should not attend dry side training.
  • Any member who is clinically at risk, or has underlying health conditions which make you at risk should also not attend dryside training without speaking to a medical practitioner and the Head Coach prior.

We have split the groups to ensure we can meet the number based guidance. The sessions will finish roughly 15 minutes before the end to allow for us to supervise a change over
These sessions will continue to run until we have a firm timetable of the club’s operation when we return to the pool.

Permission has been granted to use the School field adjoining the Stone Cross car parks next to the Leisure Centre astro turf. Please park at the leisure centre and use the gates to the side of the field.
