Thank you all for an amazing first 6 weeks back in the water! It has been great to see so many swimmers develop skills and techniques over the last few weeks. We are looking in a great position ready for some competition when it arrives!
I have compiled some information into this email, a copy will also be available on the clubs website and social media for future reference. Please keep an eye on our news page https://main.nasc.co.uk/news/

UPDATES FROM SWIM ENGLAND
Over the past week there has been a lot of media coverage over COVID-19 and the potential for many activities to go back into lockdown due to increased restrictions being placed on numbers. We can confirm that at this stage our pool training will remain unaffected by the latest government announcement
Dryside is under review awaiting further information from the governing body about the impact of this announcement on our current training arrangements. Discussions will be had with the leisure centre over the coming week about indoor sessions once the guidelines for dryside training have been reviewed by Swim England. As it stands all dryside this week will remain on, weather permitting, unless notification is received otherwise.
Swim England provided a much welcome update this weekend regarding the use of starting blocks in training sessions. We have adapted our risk assessments and guidelines (to be published on the website in due course) to allow for the use of these facilities at Bedale Leisure Centre.
There has been no update to the competitions framework as expected as yet. We are still awaiting guidance following information and the DCMS and governing body about how potential events may be able to run in the near future. As soon as we know more information we will disseminate it within the club.
Please can you get in touch by responding to this email if you are able to support sessions with volunteering some of your time.
The roles of these volunteers are to monitor social distancing and/or sign swimmers in for the session. This has been working well over the past few weeks and thank you to all who have come forward to undertake such roles. These roles are detailed on https://main.nasc.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Volunteering-Team-One-Sider.pdf

NASC COMPETITIVE SKILLS WORKSHOPS – !!!STARTING BLOCKS IN USE!!!
NASC are providing throughout 2020 a series of competitive skills workshops to enable swimmers to have more time to practice.
Sessions are to run at Bedale Leisure Centre 1.00-2.30pm
The session is aimed at those actively competing at Open level competitions and above. All Swimmers should be aged between 10 and 16 by 31/12/2020. All swimmers are expected to bring their own equipment for the session (Hats, Goggles, Costumes, Drink Bottle – Full, Kickboard, Pullbuoy, FINS). It would also be ideal, but not essential, if swimmers had front facing snorkels and finger paddles.
Total cost of the workshop session is £10
Details of the NASC coaching team can be found online via the NASC club website:
Should sessions become full a waiting list will be created, you will be notified by email if you are on the website. Priority will be given to NASC members on a first come, first served basis.

MEMBERSHIP SYSTEM EMAIL DELIVERY
We have been made aware from a number of members over the past few weeks regarding an issue with email. I have been in communication with our provider this evening to check if the issues have been resolved, this is the case.
The issues have been created due to the use of a shared IP address on the outgoing mail system. This means if emails sent by the other users are marked as spam, the entire IP address gets blocked or bounced from sending emails. Many emails have been bouncing at server end (hotmail, gmail, yahoo etc). Bounces occur when a user’s provider marks an email as spam but won’t even accept it. This means a user previously never even saw these emails in their spam folder.
The club will continue to monitor the situation and post emails, where appropriate, on the clubs website and social media platforms.
